Sale to Glory: The Best Deals to Bring in the New Year!

Bargain hunters and deal lovers: You no longer have to stand out in the cold waiting for store doors to open before a landmark sale. In fact, you don't have to withstand obnoxious close-talkers (remember that Seinfeld episode?), unabashed line-cutters or accident-prone hit-and-run cart pushers. The Internet makes it easy for you to just stay indoors (in your PJs, even) with a cup of hot cocoa and do your bargain-hunting without the added hassle. There have been plenty of sales to lure shoppers this season, but the best discounts always hit after the holidays wind down, when stores have to unload any remaining inventory.

STA has amassed some great deals, all from various websites featuring huge markdowns and clearance sales. None of these items goes for over $200, and some of these are going for up to 70% off of their original price.

Seeing Stars

Jkcblackresincuffs

If you're an astrology buff — meaning you know that Taureans are innately stubborn and make for passionate lovers, that Pisces are dreamers and wanderers who constantly seek new adventures, and that Scorpios are extremely sexual creatures — then you'll appreciate these black resin cuffs by Jessica Kagan Cushman, which depict various constellations in sparkling crystals (each, of course, corresponding to a zodiac sign). Hey, if you're gonna reach for the stars, you might as well dress the part!

Bring It On, 2009!

Between the war, the economic crisis and the general state of malaise in the world, I wouldn't exactly call 2008 a golden year. So, like many other Americans, I'll be happy to say goodbye and good riddance to this last year and start 2009 fresh (under Obama's rule and amen to that!). I'm gonna kick 2008 outta hear like I would a triflin', sorry-ass man —and I'm guessing you are too.

Whether you'll be watching Anderson Cooper on TV or popping champagne bottles at a friend's crib, you need to get yourself in a celebratory spirit. Wear something that sparkles — be it a sequined dress, jeweled pumps or a statement-making ring. Make those lips extra kissable (and keep the breath extra fresh) in preparation for the countdown to midnight. Stack up on sparklers, noisemakers, champagne flutes and goofy glasses — get ready to bring in the funk, a'ight?

Netaporter

Rachel Gilbert Scottie Sequin Dress, $875. Visit Net-A-Porter.com

This is very Beyoncé-ish in the "Get Me Bodied" video meets Sienna Miller's frock at the Anglomania exhibition. Most of all, it reminds me of the Alice & Olivia dress actress Sarah Jessica Parker wore to a UNICEF event back in '07 (she's such the style guru).

A55896G

Color Champagne Flutes, $29.99 for set of four. Visit Wrapables.com

When you raise your glasses up, wouldn't you want them to shine bright like a beacon of light and hope? Well, with these beauties, you can definitely do so.

Gerard Yosca Bow Cuff, $150. Visit MaxAndChloe.com

Bows are so festive and bejeweled touches add even a snazzier look.

Laregale

La Regale Port Hole Mesh Tote, $40. Visit LaRegale.com

Black sequins just emanate pomp and glamour — the classic elegance of stark black takes on a flapper-esque liveliness with the way each piece shimmers in the light.

Vivre

Rene Caovilla Satin and Rhinestone Sandals, $910. Visit Vivre.com

This toothpick-thin heel elongates those legs and makes your calves look like you've been doing StairMaster for 10 hours a day. How can you not love that?

Jules Smith "Kiss Kiss" Stud Earrings, $110. Visit MaxandChloe.com

Make sure your honey knows how much you're looking forward to that midnight kiss with thee luscious lip-shaped stud earrings by Jules Smith.

Any opportunity to wear this elongated clutch, with its beaded center clasp and rounded fold opening, is a golden one.

Chapeau Claudette "Lucy Rose Veiling" Pillbox Hat, $49. Visit PixieMarket.com

Though it looks a little bit like the hat Carrie wore in that Sex and the City episode where a bitter and grudge-holding Berger mocked her style sense, saying, "Nice hat" in a mocking tone. And Carrie was right — it was fabulous! Shaped like an opening bloom, this pillbox hat also features a very femme fatale veil.

New Luxury Gift Box

Perrier Jouet Fleur de Champagne & Painted Glasses Gift Box, $250. Visit WineBasket.com

If you're a guest at someone's house for New Year's Eve, bring along this wonderful gift set. Not only is Perrier Jouet a fine champagne, but the bottle and two glasses included in this kit feature elegant, hand-painted flowers that any host will want to put on display.

Er08

Andrea Lucille Designs Gavarnie Collection earrings, $975. Visit AndreaLucilleDesigns.com

The overlapping strips of gold, along with the pearl and diamond accents create a dynamic look reminiscent of a fireworks explosion. Perfect for the occasion, wouldn't you say?

Keep that breath under control (you don't want to have dragon breath at the stroke of midnight) by stashing some Oral Fixation mints in your evening clutch.

Urbanminx

Santi Silk Bag With Grey Beads, $143. Visit UrbanMinx.com

These leaf-shaped beads add volume and substance to this clutch, and the gray color creates a shadowy, slithery sense of intrigue.

We Are The Champions

Forget the breakfast of champions — it's all about the footwear of champions. If you wanna handle like Van Axel (to borrow a line from Jay-Z), you gotta have the right sneakers on the court. Even when you're off the court and the scoreboard you're worried about tracks your fashion (rather than your b-ball) moves, the game still centers on the kicks. So why not go for performance and style and double your points?

That's precisely what Adidas Remix has accomplished since its inception in 2007, celebrating the look and fit of the brand's favorite basketball shoes with new, fashion-forward, luxury design elements. By collaborating with tastemakers like urban apparel brand Lemar and Dauley, streetwear designer Gabriella "Mama" Davi-Khorasanee, jeweler Gabriel Urist and Philadelphia-based basketball lifestyle brand UNDRCRWN, Adidas Remix steadily pumps out limited-edition collections that are almost instantly inducted into the Sneaker Hall of Fame. Most recently, Adidas teamed up with UNDRCRWN for a three-shoe line dubbed Adidas Team Signature Command + Create x UNDRCRWN: The Brand for Champions Series.

The line pays homage to the players within the Adidas family who are labeled the "Commanders" (Kevin Garnett, Dwight Howard and Tim Duncan) and those considered "Creators" (Tracy McGrady, Gilbert Arenas and Chauncey Billups) and makes stylish references to the NBA Champions trophy and ring. The three styles consist of: the black, yellow and gold TS Creator x UNDRCRWN, an embossed leather design inspired by the NBA Champions ring (notice how the embossed print replicates the ring's classic design, with the bold block letters running along the perimeter of the square, which boasts rounded edges); the TS Creator Low x UNDRCRWN, a vintage-looking, cream leather-and-canvas model with red-and blue piping; and the TS Commander x UNDRCRWN, a bold hi-top featuring a forest green checkerboard upper, red laces, and a striped green-and-red velcro strap with a gold lace plate featuring the UNDRCWN insignia.

My favorite is the TS Commander X UNDRCRWN, which pays homage to Gucci by borrowing the luxury brand's signature green-and-red color scheme (which, interestingly enough is also the palette most often used when constructing outdoor basketball courts). Now these are some we-fly-high joints!

Wipe Me Down

Image001

Turns out Cam'ron was onto something when he said, "Go get ya wet wipes." Okay, so skincare wasn't exactly what he had in mind, but he did make a valuable point: wet naps and baby wipes go a long way in cleaning up sticky messes (get your minds out the gutter, please!). Besides, they're so convenient for those who are on the stick-and-move tip (geesh, what's up with me and these double entendres today? I'm shocking my own self! lol).

Which is probably why beauty companies started selling disposable foaming pads and make-up removal towelettes several years ago — after all, this option allowed women to tuck a packet in their purse and freshen up as needed. With everyone from Olay to Neutrogena releasing their brand of facial wipes, women are now bombarded with options when they stroll by the skincare products aisle of their local drugstores. The drawback? They tend to be loaded with harsh astringents and chemicals.

Top-selling British skincare brand Simple offers a wonderful alternative for women with sensitive skin (or those who just prefer products with a botanical base). Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes contain no alcohol, oils or artificial dyes or fragrances. One packet contains 25 wipes — each one is the length of your average baby wipe (7 x 7 inches), but is a bit thicker for a heftier, towel-like feel. Not only does one wipe remove any make-up, dirt, residue and oil, but it moisturizes your skin and tones it, leaving your visage feeling vibrant and new (you'll literally feel a bit of a tingle from the freshness).

So baby girls, go get ya Simple wipes.
