Tired of all those costly, limited-edition designer collaborations that you just can’t afford? Then you’ll be dancing on the ceiling (yes, I took it way back to Lionel Richie territory with that!) when you check out the New Balance for Nine West collection, which features a great assortment of styles — all under $100.

The New Balance for Nine West collaboration consists of four collections: Icon, which focuses on athletic sneakers in innovative colors and textures; Sheer, which consists of slip-on, backless sneakers; DNA, which is centered on on sporty slip-on sandals and flip-flops; and Kiki, which features sneaker-shoe hybrids. Pictured here are some of the stand-out styles from the Icon and Kiki collections (note: I don’t personally care for backless sneakers but, if you’re into that style, I’m sure you’ll dig the offerings from the Sheer collection!). The NB for NW line hits stores on March 16th but you can go online to pre-oder and secure your pair.

Pictured at top, the Kiki “Emilian” (my personal fave) was constructed using a lightweight leather and mesh combo. Like any sneaker, it features a rubber heel and lace-up closure so that the style retains its sporty DNA, but the slimmer silhouette and futuristic colorway yield a more elegant, sophisticated feel. Available in silver/lime green with criss-crossed lime green, purple, magenta and yellow straps or in white/gray with deep purple, light gray, magenta and aqua crisscross details, the Emilian stays true to the New Balance ethos, emphasizing function and comfort, while also taking a stylistic leap.

The second shoe pictured here, the Icon “Classy,” features a more expected New Balance shape, but what makes this model so unique is the usage of jersey knit material, with rip stop nylon only being utilized for the toe cover and heel. The shoe is available in more neutral colors such as black, gray and light brown, but if you’re on the adventurous side, then you’ll like this sunny blue, yellow and pink colorway (just looking at it lightens my mood).

Finally, we have the Icon “Chipper,” a striped, retro-flavored suede style, available in pink with peach stripes and orange laces or in white with silver stripes and chartreuse green laces. Perky and cheeky, this shoe is perfect for everyday use.

See? No need to let the recession mess up your fashion game with these affordable and adorable shoes!
