Christofle’s Chain Reaction
French designer Adeline Cacheux is bringing her glam-Bohemian aesthetic to Christofle, the noble line of luxury sterling silver goods, creating unique statement pieces that have an effortless artfulness to them.
After studying metalworking at the Ecole Boulle in Paris, Cacheux honed her craft as an assistant designer for London-based jeweler Lara Bohinc in 2004. The following year, she launched her first collection in Paris and soon became known for her modern yet feminine lines and her interesting usage of simple and classic metals.
Cacheux first designed for Christofle in 2007, producing the "Perles Fluidity" collection, which included bold, hefty designs such as the "Perles Fluidity 6 Strand Necklace pictured at top, a bib necklace measuring 37.75" in length and consisting of various sterling silver chains in escalating lengths. The layered chains create a rock star-meets-socialite look, while the metal clasps holding the chains together on either side add a gladiator-like feel.
Her latest offering is the adjustable, sterling silver "Bijou de Tête" headband from the "Les Enchainés" collection, pictured second from top. The multiple silver strands along the headband add a free-spirited energy to the piece, while the precision with which the piece was executed speaks to its inherent elegance. It's Bohemian and bourgeois all at once but, above all, it's plain adorable.
With these gorgeous pieces, no one will ever think silver can allude to anything other than first place.
