Bright Lights: Stella McCartney for Adidas

P1010011

If you've been reading SickaThanAverage.com for long enough, then you know all about how much I love Dame Stella McCartney (okay, fine, so she's not royalty, but she almost is to me!). And while I'm hardly a fitness buff (the concept of a "morning jog" is about as uncanny to me as the idea of cloning humans and such), wearing a cute enough outfit can persuade me off my couch. And, on that front, Stella's latest collection for Adidas once again delivers, with a performance-ready array of pieces that focus on both function and style.

The Stella McCartney for Adidas Spring/Summer 2009 collection covers several different athletic realms: from dance studio-oriented apparel to racerback tank tops meant for running, swimsuits, yoga pants, golf polo shirts, tennis skirts, and more. The palette is rather bright this season, with tons of lime green, neon orange, cayenne pepper red/orange, eggplant purple peppered throughout the collection — it's definitely not for wallflower types but, then, most champions have the pep and the gumption to pull off the boldest of moves (whether on the court, the race tack or the fashion realm).

Pictured above are a few of the standout pieces. First we have the Dance Performance Jacket and Short (pictured at top), which feature dainty, eyelet-like perforations and bead details. The zip-up jacket features gathered, short sleeves with drawstrings (so you can puff them up as much as desired), two front pockets, and a wide waistband. The shorts, meanwhile, are lined with a soft cotton on the inside for maximum comfort.

Other cool pieces include the Run Performance Top, which features a sewn-in sports bra to offer support, and reflective piping along the front, and the Swim Performance Suit (my absolute fave), which features an open back, flirty braided lace detailing along the bikini line, and mesh trim details.

All Stella McCartney for Adidas pieces: Dance Performance Jacket, $200; Dance Performance Short, $80; Run Performance Top, $80; Swim Performance Suit, $110. Available at ShopAdidas.com
