Though there were eventually nine Muses recognized in Greek mythology, there were initially three. So it's fitting, then, that there are three people, each with an individual specialty and talent, behind the five-year-old luxury accessories line The House of Muses.
The design trilogy consists of: Dutch-born model-turned-designer Lea Muses; renowned choreographer and wardrobe stylist Ramon Baynes, who has shared the stage with such music icons as Beyoncé, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey and Britney Spears; and photographer Piper Carter, who has shot for such prestigious publications as French Vogue, British Elle and Essence, and who appeared in VH1's photography-centered reality competition show "The Shot."
Their latest offerings include the picaresque "Sophie" bag (pictured above in blue and green), a rounded, handmade clutch featuring hand-dyed cotton poly pompoms, leather piping, and a coin purse-esque closure. The playful design hearkens back to a more innocent era, when miniature fluffy pompoms, malleable pipe cleaners and bitty pieces of foam were all we needed to nurture the blossoming creativity of our childhoods.
Quirky, edgy, and completely distinctive, the Sophie will have you functioning as someone's very own style muse.
