Lip Patrol: ChapStick True Shimmer

Shimmer-botanicalberry1

The most flattering lip gloss shade in the world won’t be worth a penny if you apply it on a dry, flaky pout. Tending to your lips and making sure they’re properly moisturized is key to a naturally beautiful look— and ChapStick has always been one of the most affordable lip balm options. BUT, as you probably know well, it hasn’t exactly been the sexiest or most savory option. But not to worry: the chaps at ChapStick have been playing with different formulas, tailoring their ingredients list so as to provide us with quality products that deliver top-notch results while also appealing to an increasingly finnicky customer.

Their latest release is the ChapStick True Shimmer, which you can easily glide on for a hydrating boost, but which also leaves a slight, subtle shimmer. When you first apply it, you’ll notice that your lips shine just a tiny bit — not the type of sheen you would get from a clear lipgloss, but more like a dewy, just-came-out-of-the-rain look. The shimmer, however, doesn’t last too long — as you rub your lips together or take a sip from a beverage, it will quickly dissipate. All that being said though, the True Shimmers are way softer than your traditional ChapStick balms, which can sometimes feel a bit abrasive against your lips. They’re also way tastier, thanks to fun flavors like Botanical Berry (pictured above) and Tropical.

In July, ChapStick will be introducing two new True Shimmer flavors: Peppermint and Blended Fruit Sherbet (the latter is particularly delicious). Now, I’m not suggesting you eat the ChapStick (that would be as medically sound as chomping on a crayon) but, should you lick your lips, you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

ChapStick True Shimmer, $2.79. Available at food, drug, mass merchandise, club and convenience stores across the U.S. Visit ChapStick.com for more information.
