Last Monday, June 8th, marked "World Oceans Day," a date designated by the United Nations back in 1992 to celebrate the importance of the ocean and marine life — as well as the need to preserve these habitats and the species residing therein. To reaffirm its commitment to ocean advocacy organization Oceana and to raising awareness about World Oceans Day, La Mer has launched a limited-edition 250ml "World Ocean Day" Creme De La Mer, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting Oceana.
Since La Mer's main ingredients are derived from the sea, it's only fitting that the company should support any efforts to preserve the integrity of our globe's marine environments. The proceeds from the cream will enable Oceana to fund its 2009 Ranger Expeditions, during which divers and marine biologists gather photos, videos and data that help them determine how to preserve aquatic life forms and vegetation.
The cream retails for $745 and will be sold through the month of June at Saks Fifth Avenue and LaMer.com
