If you’re a beauty junkie like me and you thirst for bold, vibrant colors, then we probably share the same pet peeve: cosmetics that look bright and vivid when packaged but look dull and muted when applied onto the skin. I hate when that happens! You know what else is a massive disappointment? When you finally find some daring liner and eye shadow hues, only to discover that they smudge, streak and fade within the hour.

Fortunately, Shu Uemura addresses both of these gripes with its Painting Liners, a collection of creamy, waterproof liners in shades like Vivid Blue (a gorgeous sky blue shade pictured and swatched above), Silver (also swtached above), Yellow, Gold, Green, Purple, Brown, White, Turquoise, Black, and Night Blue. The colors look as potent on the skin as they do in their glass containers (just look at the swatches above), and they’ll stay in place until the moment you break out the eye makeup remover. As your day (or evening) progresses and you start to fade, you might be inclined to rub your eyes sleepily, and with the Shu Uemura Painting Liners, you don’t have to worry about suppressing this natural instinct — you can rub those lids as much as you need to and still have near-perfect eye makeup after doing so.

But of course, it’s the colors that win me over every time. The Vivid Blue reminds me of the shade of  this beautiful Balenciaga dress Keri Russell wore last year, and the shimmering Silver is as futuristic as any Lady Gaga outfit.

Hey, now that I mentioned Lady Gaga, I feel like rockin’ out to “Just Dance” while wearing this silver Shue Uemura liner. Hmmm, off to do just that!
