Magenta Mouths — The Look At Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2010 Runway Show
Unlike the cool hues (shades of gray, icy blues, and polar whites) and moody feel created by the garments in his Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2010 collection, the quintessential New York City-based designer’s more youthful Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2010 line relied heavily on punk-rock-meets-Sweet-Valley-High looks, with vivid color palette and audacious fabric patterns that convey an irrepressible joie de vivre. Adding to the visual candy, the outfits at Marc by Marc Jacobs were paired with oversize, Minnie Mouse-esque satin bows in sapphire blue and hot pink, teased and tousled hair, and bold lipstick hues.
Shiseido‘s Artistic Director, Dick Page, created the look for the show, which included natural eyes and bold lips. In fact, Page didn’t apply any eye shadow to lids, opting to leave them completely natural — save for filling in any gaps along the brows, if needed, using Shiseido’s Natural Eyebrow Pencil (from the Fall 2009 collection). The focus here was on the models’ pouts, which Page accentuated with Shiseido’s Perfect Rouge Lipstick in Fuschia (RS320), then topped off with a high pigment bright pink powder. To give the lips a matte, painted-on texture, Page then dusted a bit of Translucent Loose Powder (from the Fall 2009 Collection) atop the lipstick. Isn’t it amazing how easy creating a fun, flirty look can be?
