When Sicka Met Sally

A marriage of art and fashion, designer Sally LaPointe’s S.Love brand features edgy-yet -elegant, feminine-but-strong hand-painted dresses that befit the urban landscape in which they were created (all the pieces are made in New York City). Now, LaPointe is bringing her aesthetic to Sally, a new line of pieces with a slightly more casual flair and a younger sensibility. The line is just now hitting stores and, among the pieces in the debut collection, you’ll find these captivating, monochromatic designs, featuring a hand-painted fade design that simultaneously conjures up images of the aerosol work in graffiti murals and shadowy scenes from film noir titles.

I’m personally smitten with the Dash White dress, pictured at top, a strapless nylon jersey number with built-in bra support and even a bra closure in the back (can you say genius?!). The dress hits right above the knee and hugs all of your curves, while the black fade disguise cleverly disguises any problem areas (because as we all know, tight white fabric can be so unforgiving). I’m so in love with this dress that I actually have an entire outfit planned in my head — and it involves some badass Kelsi Dagger heels (see how I wasn’t kidding?).

Another great and even more versatile piece is the XL Scarf, pictured at bottom. Made of 100% cotton jersey, the scarf measures 86″ x 38″ and is the perfect complement to most fall ensembles  — just imagine pairing it with a black leather motorcycle jacket or a streamlined, funnel-neck coat.

So there you have it ladies — great style in black and white 😉
