From Russia With Love — Guerlain’s Fall 2009 Makeup Collection
Like Givenchy, Guerlain drew inspiration from Russia for its Fall 2009 Make-Up collection. Guerlain’s Artistic Director, Olivier Echaudemaison created soft, frosty eye shadows and lip colors in lilac, pink and taupe hues for a wintry, Doctor Zhivago-esque feel.
The collection includes the Volga Princess Eye & Lip Palette (pictured above), which features two eyeshadow shades, one a light, nude-ish pink with gray undertones and the other a lavender-tinged taupe shade, as well as two lip gloss shades, one a magenta-ish pink, and the other a plum-meets-taupe shade. Another highlight are the new Kiss Kiss Baby lipstick shades, most of which focus on nude shades of varying intensity (with the exception of Red Nude, which has a much punchier, coral pink hue).
Below, you’ll find swatches of some of these products, so you can get a feel for what they look like on skin.

As you can see, these products are ideal for creating soft, understated looks. The Volga Princess palette is actually the type of product you’ll use over and over again, since the hues are versatile enough to work with almost any outfit (and they’ll give you just the right touch of color when you’re snuggled up in your white wool coat).
Below, you’ll find a pic of a simple, quick look I created using the shades in the Volga Princess palette. See how it can work for every day use?
