Shiny happy people are so 1991 (for the record, that's a reference to an R.E.M. song for those of you young bucks!). This season, the obsession with all things glossy seems to have ebbed a bit — at least when it comes to manicures. Though matte polishes were considered passé and boring for quite some time, the interest in them has been reignited, and this time, the colors are way richer and more intriguing. Essie, of course, took the matte nail trend to the next level by developing its new Essie Clearly Matte, a finishing polish that mattifies any nail color — regardless of how glossy and high impact it may be. Rock & Republic president Andréa Bernholtz was so inspired by Essie Weingarten's new formula that she proposed joining forces and creating a limited edition, co-branded collection.
Launching Thursday, October 15th, at Rock & Republic's Signature Store on Robertson Blvd. in Los Angeles, the collection consists of: the Essie and Rock & Republic matte finisher, the All About Matte jean, a skinny black denim style with slightly faded, white-ish detailing along the seams on the sides; and Top Matte Tee, a V-neck black T-shirt with the outline of a pocket holding a polish bottle sketched in red. While supplies last, Rock & Republic will gift consumers with a bottle of Essie's Clearly Matte when they purchase any of the two items from the capsule collection.
If you're in the LA area, swing by the Rock & Republic store (105 S. Robertson Blvd.) from 7 to 9 pm to view the collection, sip some champagne, enjoy a 20% discount, and receive a complimentary manicure courtesy of Spa Connections. Otherwise, visit shop.rockandrepublic.com to add a bit of matte to your life.
