Breakin’ dishes and bustin’ windows? That’s for amateurs. Real brawlers know broken beer bottles are about as key a weapon in street fights as knuckle rings, baseball bats, and tire irons. Not that I’m advocating violence of any sort, but some badass jewelry never heart anybody (okay, well, with the exception of some hefty knuckle rings!). The new Hellz Bellz and Miss Wax jewelry capsule collection is imbued with the gritty energy of ’70s-era New York (think of that streets-run-amok vibe of the cult classic The Warriors) but the aesthetic is modernized and given a hip-hop-meets-pop-art twist.
The collection consists of two pieces: the “Clashin’” earrings and the “Brawlin’” two-finger knuckle ring. Pictured at top are the “Clashin’” earrings, which were made using laser-cut, fiberglass-reinforced, polished plastic. The co-branded earrings feature the word “Hellz” in black, scrawl-like lettering hanging vertically, with a depiction of a broken bottle danging adjacent to it. The purple/black/white color scheme used for the bottle design, along with the polka dot details, add a whimsical, Warhol-esque feel, while the gold rectangular create a more dramatic, bling-tastic effect. Next, you’ll find a photo of the “Brawlin’” ring, which is made of 18 grams of brass with 14k gold plating. The ring’s rectangular top strip features a depiction of two overlapping broken bottles (creating an “X” like pattern) and the letters “HB” and “MW” etched alongside the bottle motif.
To celebrate the launch of the jewelry collection, Hellz Bellz and Miss Wax will be hosting a celebration on Saturday, November 21st from 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Special Sauce (303 Main Street in Huntington, New York).
