Kat Von D’s Saint Eau de Parfum — A Walk In the Clouds
Remember Billy Joel’s “Only The Good Die Young”, where he claims “the sinners, they have more fun”? Well, Kat Von D may just be challenging that notion with her new Sephora.com, which is available in a 1.7 oz. bottle, 1 oz. perfume-ready spray, and 0.33 oz. roll-on tube. Okay, to be fair, Kat Von D actually released the fragrance in conjunction with another scent dubbed Sinner (she has said she meant to show the duality inside every woman), but I find that the Saint fragrance outshines its sister scent (maybe it’s her halo and all!).
Packaged in a white bottle, so as to fit with the whole angelic motif, the eau de parfum features Mirabelle plum and mandarin top notes and a heart of caramel, gardenia and jasmine, with vanilla, musk and sandalwood base notes to add a bit of sensuality. Interestingly enough, the citrus and floral notes are barely noticeable in this scent — more than anything, it smells like caramel and vanilla. It’s like walking into a bakery and being enraptured by the fragrance of warm Angel Food cake and a caramel latte. What can I say? Apparently, saints like their sweets.
And while I tend to cringe when a fragrance has saccharine notes, the formula here strikes the right balance so that, even those girls with a naughty side can appreciate its soft, sugary charm.
Cue Beyoncé’s “Halo.”
