Okay, ladies, let's start this week off with a Grecian style adventure. Turquoise accessories will again dominate the style panorama this spring, and Avanessi's Santorini collection represents a triumphant rendering of this trend. Inspired by the Santorini island off of Greece, the collection features rings and necklaces with stones in domed, circular shapes that mirror the island's own round shape. The turquoise color not only nods to the beautiful ocean waters surrounding the island, but to its picturesque architecture: white buildings and houses with bright blue doors and windows. As you look at these pieces, you more than understand why, at one point in time (during the 11th and 10th centuries B.C., to be exact) was named Kalliste, which means the Fairest One.
Pictured above are some of my favorite pieces in the collection. At top, you'll find the Perissa ring, which features two diamond-studded, eternity band-style rings and four inset turquoise stones along the ring's circumference. The Perissa ring is available in both 14k white gold and 14k yellow gold. Next, you'll catch a glimpse of the Fira necklace, which measures 18 inches in length and features eight turquoise stones weighing almost two carats, as well as nine small accent diamonds. Lastly, you'll find the Ola Eternity Ring, which features a string of domed turquoise stones set in 14k yellow gold.
Talk about Greek goddess jewelry!
