I know the holidays are officially over but, since some folks are still cashing in gift cards (or exchanging wacky presents for some more palatable goods), most beauty companies are leaving their holiday offerings on counters for just a wee bit longer. And, since I just tried out some of the products Lancome‘s Holiday 2009 collection myself, I figured we’d keep the festivities going a bit longer here at Sicka Than Average.

So first — imagine me saying this in my Vanna White voice — we have the Color Design Eye & Face Palette, which is available in three color schemes: Plum Irresistible, Evening Splendor, and La Nuit Seduction. I’ll admit: at first I was most drawn to the Plum Irresistible, since it features a wealth of rich purple and gold hues. But since I always seem to gravitate towards cooler colors, I decided to go with a palette featuring more neutral hues, and I purchased the La Nuit Seduction set (which, interestingly enough, is referred to as Nude Seduction on the Lancome USA site).

The palette contains one blush shade, Aplum, and six eyeshadow shades: Pink Zinc, a champagne-colored shimmer; Wear It Well, a matte tea rose-esque nude; Erotique, a burnt sugar shimmer; Amorous, a light sand color with a subtle sheen; Kittenish, a metallic rose gold hue; and Feline Strut, a dusty, smoky deep brown color with a hint of golden shimmer. Aside from Feline Strut, all the colors in the palette are fairly subtle, and they work together really well, so you can come up with a wealth of looks using different color combinations and layering textures. I personally like using either the Wear It Well or the Amorous colors as a base and then applying either the Pink Zinc or Kittenish on the lids, with Feline Strut along the crease or in the outer V to add some drama and contour the area.

For holiday, Lancome also unveiled a few new shades of L’Absolu Rouge, its creamy lipstick with SPF 12 protection, and La Lacque Fever, its high impact gloss. I tried out the L’Absolu Rouge in the Coquette color, a coppery color that works as the perfect complement to the shades in the La Nuit Seduction palette, and the La Lacque Fever in Seductively, a cool, frosted mauve shade.

Pictured below, you’ll find swatches of the eye shadow shades in the La Nuit Seduction palette, along with swatches of the L’Absolu Rouge lipstick in Coquette and the La Lacque Fever in Seductively.
