Whereas most backstage areas during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week epitomized last-minute nervous chaos, the behind-the-scenes vibe at the Domenico Vacca Fall 2010 presentation was one of laid-back confidence. Models nibbled on sandwiches as they took their seats at the long folding tables populated by Warren-Tricomi hair stylists, while a team of Laura Mercier makeup artists labored at the end of the room, right in front of racks packed with clothes that would be in display in a matter of minutes.

Joel Warren, co-founder of Warren-Tricomi, was on hand to style the ladies’ manes for the Domenico Vacca presentation, which was held at the Peter Tunney Gallery on Friday, February 13th. Warren describes the look as a “youthful, disorganized, disheveled beehive.” To create the look, the stylists teased the hair up top to create the retro bump and then twisted the hair along the back, tying it with an elastic into a low ponytail. Combined with the thick, winged black eyeliner, thick dark eyebrows, and pale complexion and lips created by the Laura Mercier team, the result was an Amy Winehouse-meets-Elvira-meets-Brigittte Bardot look.
