Illamasqua Global Nail Varnish Competition — Color Vision
This competition sounds like so much fun, I may just have to break out my very own inspiration board and submit an entry. Illamasqua (one of my favorite makeup brands ever) is opening the floor to core fans, beauty mavens, nail polish junkies, and color gurus, allowing them to conceive of a new nail varnish color to be released in the fall. And here’s the best part: you don’t have to be a mad scientist and know all about polish formulations and color theory in order to participate. All you have to do is describe your ideal polish color, the inspiration behind it, and include a photograph, graphic design, sketch, or any other accompanying visual that captures the shade (or the feeling of the shade). The winning nail polish color will be sold starting October 2010 exclusively on Illamasqua.com and at UK-based department store chain Selfridges and its website, Selfridges.com.
So here are the rules and submission guidelines:
- To enter, you must submit your entry between February 21st and March 14th. The contest is open globally, so it doesn’t matter if you live in Kansas or Timbuktu — you’re eligible to enter!
- In your entry, describe your dream color and how you brainstormed about it, along with the reference point you used. It’s best to include a photograph, fabric swatch, or other material with your submission so that judges have a clear visual reference point to ascertain what the shade looks like.
- Only one entry per person, por favor!
- You can submit the entry via e-mail (just send your entry to email@example.com), by blog post (meaning you blog about it, provide all the necessary supporting materials and then e-mail the post URL to firstname.lastname@example.org), or by mail (send your package to Competition c/o Illamasqua, 6-8 Anwell St, London EC1R 1UQ).
The winner will be notified on May 5th (which happens to be my birthday), so let’s see if one of you readers gives me a nice birthday present and brings me news of your amazing winning entry!
