New Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar Shades
After a few days of playing with Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics’ new Spring 2010 Lip Tars, I truly understand why the word “obsessive” is an indelible component of this makeup brand’s name. The OCC Lip Tars bridge the gap between lipstick and lip gloss, with each compact 0.27 oz.squeeze tube packed with a richly pigmented color that practically melts onto your pout. The Lip Tars aren’t sticky or gummy like a gloss nor do they have the rich, clump-prone creaminess of a lipstick — instead, they have an almost oil-like feel, though their consistency is by no means runny or watery. You can apply the color with a brush for extra precision or simply run the squeeze tube over lips; either way, you’ll be shocked by how much color is deposited onto your mouth. When the color sets, it will have an alluring satin finish, and yet it will still appear slick and fresh.
While they’re not billed as “stay-in-place” lip colors, it’s almost bewildering how long the teensiest bit of Lip Tar will last. Although the color does budge (if you take a sip out of a cup, you will most certainly leave a mark on the rim), there’s such a high concentration of pigment that your lips will still manage to conserve a great deal of color. Plus ,the 100% vegan Lip Tars contain moisturizing and emollient ingredients like vitamin E, peppermint oil, and hemp oil.
For Spring 2010, OCC revealed a handful of new Lip Tar colors, among them: Demure, a vivid fuchsia; Vivid, a lilac hue with bubble gum pink undertones; and Memento, a perky, slightly coral-tinged nude hue. I got my hands on these three shades, and I’ve been jonesin’ like an addict over here!
Below, you’ll find swatches of the shades and photos that show what they look like on lips. Trust: they’re worth obsessing over!
