There’s No Place Like Home — If You’ve Got These Fred Red Pillows, That Is!
We first brought you the scoop on luxury pillow brand Fred Red back in December 2008, when designer Fred Aguirre was showcasing his debut collection at Bergdorf Goodman. Almost two years later, Fred Red continues to dazzle us with modern, lively coming home feel as eventful as a homecoming celebration. The newest collection, however, steers clear of the usual premium leathers, instead utilizing organic cotton covers — perfect for eco-conscious décor lovers.
Fred Red’s Organic Cotton Collection consists of four different styles: the Belted Pillow (pictured above in Lapis and Fuchsia), which boasts a kimono-esque feel; the Layered Pillow, which includes layered fabric strips sewn together so as to create a an arrow-like seam pattern along the front; the Overlay Pillow, which features two thick strips of fabric jutting out from opposite ends and then running horizontally along the front of the pillow, with their slanted ends overlapping at the center point (think of an ace bandage wrapped around an ankle, and you’ll get a feel for the effect created); and the Woven Pillow, which features a basket-like woven pattern (pictured below in Lime, Turquoise and Yellow). Each pillow measures 20″ by 20″ and features a goose down insert.
I love the collection’s Miami Beach-ready colors: from the bright key lime green to the resort pool-worthy turquoise blue. My favorite style is definitely the Belted Pillow — the Obi belt motif is inspired, and it adds a cheeky but sexy, exotic edge.
Fred Red Organic Cotton Pillows, $295 each; available at Bergdorf Goodman. Visit FredRed.com for more info.
