Thuy “Sea To The Stars” Headscarf To Benefit Shoe4Africa
In December, renowned celebrity hairstylist Rodney Cutler and Shoe4Africa founder Toby Tanser will venture out on their “From the Sea to the Stars” journey, which involves running over 250 miles starting at the Indian Ocean and venturing to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro. The motive behind the voyage: promoting awareness about AIDS in Africa and to raising funds to erect the first public children’s hospital in Kenya.
To celebrate this exciting journey, not to mention the wonderful cause that inspired it, the two friends and activists held a fund-raising bash at Cutler’s Soho salon on Wednesday, July 7th. Guests made significant donations to the cause and bid on exciting items from companies like Redken, Equinox, and Starbucks during the evening’s silent auction, with 100% of the proceeds going to Shoe4Africa.
Fashion lovers were particularly smitten with the colorful headscarves designed by New York-based Vietnamese designer Thuy Diep, the woman behind the Thuy brand. The custom-made pieces, pictured above, feature silk fabrics in vibrant prints, rolled and twisted to give them the texture you’d find in African headwraps.
You may have missed Wednesday’s bash, you can still support the cause and score a resort-ready hair accessory with a Thuy Sea to the Stars headband. Priced at $45, the headscarves can be ordered by calling Cutler Salon at 212.308.3838.
