Green Room Thursdays — Discover STEAMCREAM
Art, skincare and green living come together with STEAMCREAM, a light, vegan moisturizer packaged in recyclable aluminum tins bearing limited-edition graphics from artists like Tokyo-based Takayuki Totsuka and fashion label PPQ. Each round aluminum tin features a twist-on lid that can be securely closed, so you won’t have to worry about any potential spilling as you would with a flimsy, span-on lid. Though sturdy and secure, the multi-purpose STEAMCREAM moisturizes are rather compact and lightweight: they boast a slightly smaller diameter than traditional coasters and weigh just 2.6 ounces. If you’re a habitual traveler who is constantly concerned with how to maximize the efficiency of your packing process (George Clooney in Up In The Air comes to mind), STEAMCREAM will come in handy.
The moisturizer itself features a really fluid consistency, with a texture similar to that of vanilla yogurt. The all-natural ingredients in the cream include: an oatmeal infusion, meant to soothe sensitized skin; orange flower water, which tones the skin and is said to minimize the appearance of pores; almond oil, which softens the skin and provides free radical protection thanks to its high concentration of vitamin E; moisture-locking and softening cocoa butter; organic jojoba oil, which helps to seal moisture into the skin; and lavender oil, which calms the skin, reduced inflammation, and cleans any wounds or irritation. Not only does this mix of ingredients yield an effective moisturizer, but STEAMCREAM’s steam-infused process yields a loosely bound emulsion that allows each ingredient in the formula to penetrate deeper layers of skin. An added bonus: the lavender and orange flower water in the formula (along with toning essential oils of chamomile, rose absolute, neroli, limonene, and citronellol) help to create a soothing aromatherapy experience, making you feel calmer and more relaxed as you massage the cream onto your skin.
And when it comes to STEAMCREAM, nothing is wasted — even after you deplete your resources (the moisturizing cream), you’re left with a playful tin in which you can store anything from paper clips and push pins to stud earrings, stamps, loose change, safety pins, buttons, and other odds and ends.
Pictured above are a few of the picturesque designs available. At top, you’ll find the Felicity design, a love fest of heart shapes in cheerful red, pink, orange, yellow, and maroon shades, all arranged in a kaleidoscopic fashion. Next, you’ll find the Alice, which features the four card suits (spade, heart, clover, and diamond) in whimsical kelly green, hot pink, sunshine yellow, and grape purple along the silver-toned lid. And last, you’ll find the Flamingo design, which features a kitschy illustration of a flamingo in a marsh, an aquatic background juxtaposed against the bird’s pink plumage. Once you take the plunge and buy a STEAMCREAM, you’re bound to fall in love with the tin jar’s graphics — and, before you know it, you’ll want to collect them all.
