End Your Summer On A Beauty-Full Note
Over here, we party ’til the music stops, and we’re not ready to turn the lights off on this summer jam just yet. As we move and groove in the sticky heat, we’ll be keeping our fall makeup in a nice little drawer and, instead, stashing our makeup bag with hues as bright and electrifying as the rays of sunshine outside. Are you with us? Then, before giving your summer a passionate kiss goodbye, play with one of these beauty trends!
DAB ON SOME CREAM BLUSH
Cream blushes have several key advantages. First, they blend onto skin giving you a more natural, flushed tint that ‘s only a hint rosier than your natural complexion (guess grandma had the right idea when she’d dab a bit of lipstick onto the apples of her cheeks and scrub furiously). Second, they typically boast matte finishes, so there’s no rave-ready, overly theatrical shimmer. And third, they sometimes include skin nourishing ingredients, as with the Jemma Kidd Blushwear Creme Cheek Colour tints, which feature vitamins A, C and E to soften and hydrate skin. This summer, we’ve been treating our cheeks to the Jemma Kidd Blushwear Creme Cheek Colour in Guava.
If you’re really into portable cream sticks (such as the NARS Multiple) but want a more affordable alternative, check out the N.Y.C. New York Color Blushable Creme Sticks, which come in a bevy of shades including the below pictured Big Apple Blush, a perky pink.
Check out the two options mentioned:

PURSE YOUR PERFECTLY PINK LIPS
Pink never really goes out of style, but the warmth of summer allows us to push the boundaries in terms of how bright and bold we’ll go with this shade. For just a hint of color with tons of sparkle, try the Three Custom Color Specialists White Heat Lipgloss, an iridescent soft pink saturated with silver and opalescent white glitter. If you’d rather bypass the shimmer and plunge into a Cyndi Lauper-approved punch of color, check out the MAC Lipglass in Pink Poodle, a hot pink shade with an icy, all-over sheen. Want a softer but equally girly option? Then consider the MAC Chatterbox Lipstick, which falls between a carnation-worthy pink and the deeper satin shade associated with Marilyn Monroe’s famous strapless gown in Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend. Want an even bolder option? Go all the way into a Tarina Tarantino-esque whirlwind of blue-tinted fuchsia with Mattese Elite’s Porn Star lipstick shade.

COOL OUT WITH SOME AQUATIC EYE SHADOW HUES
Before the summer heat sails away (cue the Enya song), go with the ocean flow and dive into an expanse of blues and greens ranging from a powdery, almost chalk-like, highly pigmented periwinkle blue to a sun-drenched, iridescent light green like the hue you’d find along the scales of an Ocean Green Discus fish. Below, check out some of the eye shadows that have us obsessing harder than Swimfans.

PLAY WITH PEEL-OFF NAIL POLISH
Sula Beauty’s portable Paint & Peel duos include one shade of nail polish on one end and a clear, color-sealing top coat on the other. Lacquer lovers can choose between shades like: Bubblegum, a hot pink; Berry, a creamy plum; Azure, a greenish aqua; Kelly, a clover green; and Watermelon, an orange-tinged reddish pink. The quick-drying formula allows you to paint your nails while on the go, making it a handy addition to any makeup bag. Best of all, when you’re sick of the shade coating your nails, you can avoid the dizzying, pungent nail polish remover scent and simply peel off the color as you would do a sticker. Sure, our Sula Paint & Peel manicures haven’t enjoyed too long a life span (2-3 days at most), but they’re like the temporary tattoos of the nailverse.
