Blessed & Cursed Sets Its Sights On The US
With only two years in existence, German denim label Blessed & Cursed has already lured edgy, rule-breaking, trend-setting pop stars like Katy Perry and Rihanna (for whom the Denim Couture jacket pictured at top was originally designed) and landed editorial coverage in German Vogue. And now, designer Nicola Eibich is formally introducing her label to United States customers through her runway show at LA Fashion Week, taking place October 24th.
Sponsored by Swarovski Elements, the show will include dresses, jackets, jeans, handbags, and accessories crafted using premium Japanese denim in various washes and crystals, studs, and spiked hand-embroidered in Germany. While we’ll have to wait 10 more days until we can check out the full Spring 2011 Blessed & Cursed collection, the pieces in the Spring/Summer 2011 Killer Couture collection bode triumph.
The Killer Couture jacket in a light bleached vintage wash (shown at top) and its black denim counterpart (pictured last from top) both feature spiked clear crystals along the shoulders, pointing upwards like stalagmites or Krypton-worthy formations, as well as smaller, conical studs, domed beads, and rivets. Similarly, the denim clutch bags are available in various washes — from a grungy grayish wash to a vintage-looking, bleached out, light blue denim. Seams, rips, fraying, and bleached whiskers add a punk-y, worn-in feel, while embroidered beads, studs and crystals elevate the designs to couture heights.
