Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Fall 2010 Lip Tar Shades
For Fall 2010, cutting-edge makeup brand Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics devised a range of new Lip Tar shades inspired by the most scandalous of vixens — and hence bearing names like “Trick,” “Trollop,” “Stalker,” and “Harlot.” As usual, I scooped up the new shades as soon as they hit the OCC online store (well, four of the six new colors anyway).
I was instantly smitten with the “Harlot” color, a fiery shade reminiscent of a 1956 Fiesta Red Thunderbird car. And, given my fascination with red lip colors, I also gravitated toward the True Blood-esque “Strutter” Lip Tar shade, a brown-tinged, profoundly deep red hue that feels sinister but confident (think Eric’s protege Pam on the campy vampire-centric HBO series).
Once I’d painted my shopping basket red, I reached for the “Trollop” color, a perky salmon-meets-coral pink of a medium intensity that nods to the puchy pouts of the Mod ’60s. And, to round out my selections, I also picked up the new “Trick” shade, a cool nude shade that’s neither pinkish nor yellow, but is perfectly positioned on neutral ground, making it a wonderful option for days when you want to tone down and practically obscure lips, while still giving them enough of an icy sheen to keep your face illuminated and fresh-looking.
These four new Lip Tar shades are in heavy rotation in my makeup bag and, once you take a closer look at the photos below, you should see why I’m loving these showstopping temptresses and sinners.
