Roberto Cavalli Timewear Spring 2011 Snake Collection A Real Snake Charmer
Sure, serpents get a bad rep in Christian texts, oft representing temptation, deceit, sin, destruction, and evil. But in ancient, pre-Columbian religions and folklore, snakes often depicted eternity, death and rebirth, and hence the full circle of life — particularly when the scaly reptiles were shown forming a circle, biting their own tails. These creepy crawlers surface often in Roberto Cavalli's wares — adorning the temples of oversized sunglasses; embellishing asymmetrical, keyhole tops; slithering atop wooden cuff bracelets; and forming the eye-catching buckles of wide, patent leather belts.
The Roberto Cavalli Timewear line has utilized the slippery snake symbol in the past, adorning the bezels of dainty watches with round cases and stainless steel bands, or sculpted to resemble slim cuff bracelets, with adjustable widths, two-toned bands, and pointed ends resembling serpent heads. But, for Spring/Summer 2011, Roberto Cavalli Timewear is once again breathing new life into the snake symbol, showing us just how well the rebirth reference works for this particular animal.
Sleek, shiny metal finishes and snakeskin straps define the latest Snake watch collection. These Swiss-made monochromatic models feature 37mm casings and mirrored dials bearing the Roberto Cavalli name, along with python-like straps in matching metallic tones. The snakes wiggle along the perimeter of the wide metallic bezels, with their faceted heads resting atop the watches' dials and their long, wispy tails curving all the way to the bezel's right-hand side. To make the snakes pop, some parts of their tails are etched and grooved to give the feel of textured scales while other areas are left relatively untouched to amp up the watches' overall shine.
The new Roberto Cavalli Timewear Spring 2011 Snake collection is available in four colorways: Gold, Black, Silver, and Pink Gold.
