You may associate Nepali by TDM Design with colorful and cozy, celebrity-approved scarves (Halle Berry and Jessica Alba figure among the bran's fans) crafted using premium bamboo, cashmere, cotton, silk or merino fabrics, but the brand has recently expanded past textiles, launching a new jewelry line. As with its scarf offerings, all the Nepali by TDM Design jewelry pieces are hand crafted by artisans in Nepal. By providing these weavers with above-market wages, as well as granting them access to health care and educational resources, Nepali by TDM Design supports a model that helps local women move towards economic empowerment and self-reliance.

When you first glance at some of the jewelry pieces, you're likely to think they've been crafted using white resin wicker or hand-painted rattan (I certainly had to do a double take!), due to the level of detail in the weaving technique utilized by artisans. Upon closer inspection, however, you'll discover that these modern accessories are actually fashioned using sterling silver. These thread-thin strips of sterling silver are then manipulated to create spiral and zig-zag shapes, resembling the type of weaving patterns you'd expect to find on a loom. Each piece has a sleek finish that adds to its minimalist vibe, while semi-precious gemstones add a hint of drama.

Pictured above, you'll find some of my favorite pieces — from the Sterling Spiral Twist Cuff (pictured third from top), an adjustable bracelet shaped much like an infinity symbol, with a slim center point and bulbous outer edges; to the Spiral Gem Ring (pictured second), a woven sterling band with a row of three amethyst stones along the center panel; and the Sterling Woven 2 Stone Cuff (pictured a top), a thick bracelet with a vertical strip at its heart embellished with two prong-set, oval-shaped, faceted gemstones (pick between citrine, amethyst, peridot, garnet and smoky topaz).

 Talk about dream weavers!

Sterling Woven 2 Stone Cuff, $300; Sterling Twist 3 Stone Ring, $190; Sterling Spiral Cuff, $200; and Sterling Woven 6 Stone Cuff, $250. Available at TDMdesigninc.com
