Glide Through The Streets In A New Limited Edition Schwinn Sting-Ray Bikes!
Feel like you’re Jean Seberg riding alongside Warren Beatty in 1964’s Lilith with one of these vintage-flavored, limited-edition Schwinn Sting-Ray bicycles. Designed in 1962 by Al Fritz, the Sting-Ray was meant to function as a hybrid between a motorcycle and a bicycle, with a banana-shaped leather seat, high-rise ape hanger handlebars, a smaller wheel along the front and a larger back wheel, and a silver-toned sissy bar along the back of the seat. Though Schwinn officially ceased producing the Sting-Ray in 1979 (a limited 1998 reissue notwithstanding), the classic wheelie bike model remains imprinted in the memories of many a baby boomer.
Whether you broke your pedaling cherry on a Sting-Ray or you simply adore all things that conjure up a sense of nostalgia, you can grab a piece of history when you cop one of the 900 newly released Schwinn Sting-Ray bikes. Available for a limited time only, the new Schwinn Sting-Ray bikes are available in four colors: Apple Krate, Orange Krate, Lemon Peeler, and Grey Ghost.
To celebrate this exciting launch, Schwinn is offering four of its Facebook fans a chance to win their very own Sting-Ray. To enter, simply visit www.facebook.com/rideschwinnbikes and vote for your favorite Sting-Ray color. Once you do so, you’ll automatically be entered in the contest.
Take a ride down memory lane — literally!
