Rebecca Minkoff Unveils Her New Heritage Collection
Handbag designer Rebecca Minkoff looked to her own ancestry when designing her Fall 2011 Heritage Collection, venturing to France to soak in the culture in which her late grandmother was reared. Two styles comprise the capsule collection, both leather hobos with a chic but understated Bohemian flair.
The Rebecca Minkoff Grenoble Hobo (595 at RebeccaMinkoff.com) has a rounded shape, with a pocket-sized front pocket accentuated with pronounced tubular piping, and features a shield-shaped top flap with two slim strips resembling ribbon ends as well as an adjustable shoulder strap that allows you to wear the piece as a cross-body style. Measuring 14″ in width, 4″ in depth, and 13″ in height, this olive brown leather hobo features custom brass accents.
For more of a flapper-like cheekiness, check out the Rebecca Minkoff Chateau Fringe Hobo ($595 at Shopbop.com), pictured second from top, a black cowhide handbag with a pebble texture measuring 14″ in height, 14″ in length, and 5″ in depth. Equipped with a 12″ shoulder strap, the Chateau hobo features a main compartment with a top zipper, as well as a roomy square patch pocket along the front, itself adorned with a snap flap and cascading fringe along the lower half of the pocket shape. The fringe strips extend well past the bottom of the bag to give the handbag a sense of movement and ease as you walk.
