Stick It to ‘Em with Jeffrey Campbell’s Spike in Black Suede Gold
Jeffrey Campbell shoes aren’t meant for those who still cling to Emily Post’s etiquette dogmas and who prioritize a restrained and prim femininity. No, Jeffrey Campbell’s footwear is designed for the wild at heart, for those with a taste for adventure and danger. Common style elements, then, include: hefty built-in platforms (as with his Lita lace-up booties); animal print, metallic paisley, cosmic aurora-esque designs, all-over glitter, neon-colored, and tribal print uppers; concave, claw-like wooden wedge heels; and buckle, cut-out, stud, snap, and spike accents.
One of our favorite styles to date is the Spike, a lace-up platform bootie identical to the Lita in terms of its shape and silhouette but featuring goldtone metal spikes and round, conical studs covering both the chunky heel and the heel counter directly above it. Previously available in black, white, and red leather, as well as taupe and gray suede, the Jeffrey Campbell Spike booties now come in a black suede colorway with golden spike and stud details.
Though we’ve seen suede uppers before, this black suede colorway is way more practical (and edgy) than the neutral shades used in the past — plus, this is the first time the Spike features gold metal hardware as opposed to the traditional silver metal fare.
Featuring a 2″ platform and 5″ heel, the Jeffrey Campbell Spike in Black Suede Gold ($224.90 at ShopAKIRA.com) are equal parts Sid Vicious-approved punk, Sons of Anarchy-esque biker babe tough, and rumble-in-the-jungle rowdy.
