Charlotte Olympia Avalon Sandals — As Seen On Katy Perry

Hey, readers! Sorry I’ve been missing in action for a bit, but even the most dedicated of bloggers has to go on vacation  every now and again, right? I took a few days, traveled to my native Puerto Rico with the family, and unplugged (which I really recommend that everyone do while on vacation since it’s hard to unwind otherwise). In any case, I’m back now, my batteries are recharged, and I’m ready to cover more style and beauty must-haves for you!

Today’s style entrée: the Charlotte Olympia Avalon Sandals pictured above, a highlight in the London-based luxury footwear brand’s Spring 2012 collection.

At top, you’ll find the Avalon sandals in an Art Deco-esque black-and-gold color scheme. Pop star Katy Perry wore these shoes to the opening ceremony for the Indian Premier League (IPL) on April 3rd, triggering footwear fancies before, fittingly enough, performing her hit “Teenage Dreams.” The sandals Perry wore feature velvety black suede uppers, with a low vamp embellished by golden piping along the top and bottom borders, a rounded peep toe resting atop a 2″ island platform synonymous with Charlotte Olympia footwear, and a slim ankle strap finished with golden piping and a square buckle.

The standout element in this design, however, is the scrollwork-inspired, golden wire heel, which harkens back to the swooping, swirling, spiraling flourishes, coils, and arabesques popularized during Italy’s Baroque Architecture era. The wire heels measure 5 3/4″ in height and feature a curved  form along the back that tapers inward as it approaches the bottom, which has a square shape reminiscent of the base of an ionic column.

The Charlotte Olympia Avalon sandals are also available with green leaf-print canvas uppers and a white wire heel, yielding a botanical-inspired effect that’s perfectly on trend for spring and summer. Shown second from top, the leaf-print Charlotte Olympia Avalon heels retail for $2,395 at NeimanMarcus.com
