Kitty Kitty Bang Bang — Vans x Hello Kitty Summer 2012 Collection

In addition to the theatrical opening of the much-hyped Snow White and the Huntsmen, yesterday, June 1st, marked the release of  a new collaborative collection between Sanrio and skateboarder-approved footwear brand Vans. This time around, the two companies chose to produce a more expansive line encompassing new footwear styles (slip-ons, classic lace-up kicks, and a new hi-top design), accessories (backpacks, belts, socks, etc.), and apparel (laid-back sweatshirts and tees) — all featuring patterns that nod to the beloved Hello Kitty character.

From a design perspective, the boldest offering in the Hello Kitty x Vans Summer 2012 Collection is the Vans x Hello Kitty Sk8-Hi Slim ($65 at Sanrio.com), pictured at top, a new black hi-top featuring depictions of Hello Kitty’s adorable face outlined in a white hue, her red bow accessory adding some color to the uppers, and a detachable padded red bow accessory decorating the white laces, resting right at the tongue for a cheeky twist. On a similar note, the Vans x Hello Kitty Red Bow Backpack ($38 at Sanrio.com), pictured last above, features a white, chalk-like outline of Hello Kitty’s whiskered face an a three-dimensional red bow positioned right above her left ear, twisted ever so slightly so as to rest at a 45-degree angle.

If you love the ease of slip-on sneakers, you can choose between several new prints, including: the Blue Vans x Hello Kitty Classic Slip-On ($40 at Sanrio.com) shown second from top, a low-top canvas sneaker featuring a navy blue color along the front, which is in turn adorned by a depiction of Hello Kitty in a traditional pose, her sitting body positioned sideways as she faces forward, and finished with a color-blocked motif so that red fabric decorates the sides of the shoe while a black patch donning a red bow illustration covers the heel area; the Collage Vans x Hello Kitty Classic Slip-On ($55 at Sanrio.com) pictured fourth from top, a punchy pink with dancing illustrations of Hello Kitty donning pastel jumpers, accompanied by  floating teddy bears and heart shapes in lilac, pink, and sky blue colors for a whimsical take on child-like innocence; and the Dots Vans x Hello Kitty Clasic Slip-On ($55 at Sanrio.com), a solid black number featuring white polka dots and an oversize depiction of HK’s head  along the top of the shoe, right above the arch of the foot (as shown after the jump).

Those who love lace-up sneakers, meanwhile, can check out the Vans x Hello Kitty Authentic Lace Up sneakers in fun new colorways like Ocean (shown third from jump), a deep sky blue with white illustrations of HK’s head, pink bow details replacing the traditional red ones, and pink laces;  Pink, a honeysuckle color with white illustrations of HK’s head, a polka dot interior lining, and polka dot laces (as seen after the jump); and Black, which features multi-colored outlines of HK’s head for a bit of an ’80s feel.

Check out more photos of the collection’s offerings after the jump and pre-order your favorite styles at Sanrio.com!
