The London 2012 Olympic Games kick off next Friday, July 27th, and Covergirl is showing its support for the American athletes vying for the gold by releasing the Covergirl LashBlast Volume Mascara, Covergirl Outlast All-Day Lipcolor, and Covergirl Perfect Point Plus Self-Sharpening Eye Pencil in special commemorative packaging. For this limited-edition packaging, the customary white backdrops of the boxes and cartons are replaced by light gold ones to convey the desire for the No. 1 spot and create a correlation between Covergirl’s commitment to excellence and Team USA’s extraordinary athleticism and its desire to emerge victorious during these global sports competitions. In addition, each box or carton incorporates the¬†Procter & Gamble logo surrounded by three ribbon-like gold, white, and red stripes that encircle the logo completely and then extend in opposite directions so that the end result resembles a medal dangling from a thick ribbon necklace. Beneath the P&G logo, you’ll find the the iconic Olympic rings symbol and ¬†the words “Worldwide Partner” to promote the brand’s role as a key sponsor in the 2012 London games. The LashBlast Volume Mascara takes the motif a step further, with its thick tube also bearing the P&G logo, the Olympic rings symbol and the words “Worldwide Partner.”

The Covergirl LashBlast Volume Mascara ($7.99 at mass food and drug retailers) features an applicator tip with bristles that curve upward ever so slightly and are spaced out evenly so as to grip every lash and maximize length and volume, while the Covergirl Outlast All-Day Lipcolor contains a liquid lipstick in a gloss-like tube featuring a sponge tip applicator as well as a clear balm-like tube that functions as a top coat, locking in the color on your pout and hydrating lips for maximum comfort. The Perfect Point Plus eye pencil, meanwhile, features a solid tip on one end and a slanted spongy tip on the other to diffuse and smudge the liner color.
