Shoes That Shine — Ritch Erani Matrix Platform Sandals

Lasr month, while cavorting through the streets of Rome with her newest boy toy after another successful stop on her MDNA tour, pop icon Madonna was spotted wearing a pair of blacknd-white maryjane wedge sandals with a built-in platform. A month later, she was again photographed wearing her new fave shoes while en route to a movie screening in Amsterdam.
As it turns out, the shoes are the handiwork of footwear designer Ritch Erani, who spent a decade envisioning styles for cult favorite brand Chuckies New York before launching his own eponymous line, Ritch Erani NYFC. The spectator-esque, black-and-vanilla leather Matrix Sandals shown at top, worn by Madonna to complement her current British dame style, retail for $595 and are available exclusively at Chuckies in NYC (1073 Third Avenue; call 212.593.9898). In addition to leather uppers in a two-toned colorway, the Matrix sandals feature a wedge sandal and built-in platform, a round patent leather toe cap, and thin ankle straps with an oval-shaped buckle accent.
The Ritch Erani NYFC Matrix Sandals are also available in a slightly nautical red, navy, and tawny cream colorway with a striking color-blocked arrangement — with solid ink-y blue wed he heel and a matching patent leather toe cap, a contrasting cream-colored platform outsole, and red side panels trimmed in a fleshy beige shade with a matching beige ankle strap.
An updated take on the traditional mary-jane sandal that reflects both the color-blocking trend that continues going strong this year and the penchant for wedges this summer, the Ritch Erani NYFC Matrix Sandals were born under a footwear “lucky star.” And trust: when it comes to these shoes, you won’t need to justify your love!
