Matthew Williamson For Havaianas Rain Boots Make Drab Days Exciting Again
It may have become a household name thanks to its über comfortable flip-flops, featuring printed footbeds, but Brazilian brand Havaianas has been steadily expanding its footwear offerings, starting with espadrilles and no-fuss sneakers and now releasing its first-ever collection of rain boots. The limited-edition collection is the result of a collaboration with British designer Matthew Williamson, known for his luxury Bohemian style and his colorful and whimsical prints, and marks Havaianas’ 50th anniversary along with the 15th anniversary of Williamson’s debut during London Fashion Week.
The two rain boots in the the Matthew Williamson for Havaianas collection feature prints closely associated with the former’s brand: Black Peacock, for instance, features white plumes adorned with gradient teardrop shapes featuring colorful hearts at their center in lieu of the traditional “eyes” seen on peacock feathers; while Blue Rain features the astral print seen in his latest collection, with triangular segments featuring pronounced dashes stacked against one another to create a mosaic effect, the varying tonalities of each triangle adding dimension and depth. You might recall the Black Feather print from the Matthew Williamson for H&M collection as it played a pretty important role therein, but there’s no denying its charm. And, of course, the Blue Rain pattern manages to feel abstract while also playing with the theme of scattered showers via the small dashes of color throughout its surface and the aquatic tones.
The Matthew Williamson for Havaianas boots retail for $125 each and are available at US.Havaianas.com
