To the Galaxy and Beyond! New LuxMobile iPhone 5 Cases Offer a Glimpse of the Universe
Somewhere inside of me, a sci-fi geek must be lurking, perhaps hidden beneath the cynical, Daria-esque elements of my personality; tucked under the sarcastic, snarky, Juno-ish sensibilities; buried beneath the brainy bibliophile part of me; submerged under the saucy, tell-it-like-it-is Hilda Suarez part, below the fashion-obsessed, shoe-hoarding, forever strutting Carrie-Bradshaw-meets-Gloria Delgado-Pritchett part of my psyche. Sure, I hated Star Trek — not just the recent movie remake but, rather, the entire series — and the only thing I got from The Fifth Element was that Milla Jovovich looked surprisingly fly with flame-colored hair but all the sci-fi fodder notwithstanding, whenever I see an image of the cosmos, I’m drawn to it like a moth to a flame, fascinated with the beauty of deep space, struck by how much of it remains a mystery to us, how humbling such a sight can be given that it reminds us that humans occupy but a tiny space in the larger cosmos. When clothing brand Black Milk and footwear line Jeffrey Campbell collaborated on a shoe collection, ultimately releasing the Black Milk x Jeffrey Campbell Night Lita in Rainbow Galaxy as part of their limited-edition collection, I swooned over the lace-up booties — never mind the fact that I already own them in a tapestry print, with a lace motif, in a glittery pattern, and with metallic green spikes along the heel counter. Similarly, whenever Motel Rocks releases a galaxy-themed garment, whether it’s a body-conscious dress or a pair of colorful leggings, I feel compelled to pick it up. I even refuse to change the wallpaper on my Macbook since I actually like the built-in nebulae design.
Needless to say, I did a triple take when I saw the range of “Galaxies” iPhone 5 cases from 8-year-old mobile accessories brand LuxMobile, which is known for merging together the worlds of fashion and technology, working with brands like Target, Protekto, and Baby Phat, as well as celebrities like Lady Gaga to create funky accessories for all types of devices — from iPhones and iPads to Kindle Fire tablets, Bluetooth ear pieces, Samsung and LG mobile models, Blackberries, and netbooks. The company has even integrated the work of such iconic artists as illustrator MC Escher and performance painter David Garibaldi into their offerings.
Part of LuxMobile’s array of cases for the new iPhone 5, these cosmic-inspired, featherweight, shock-absorbent cases snap on to the back of the phone easily, securing your precious device from any bumps and scrapes (and from those thunderous crashes that lead to battery parts and SIM cards scattered all over the place!). The snap-on cases feature an ultra-glossy coating that not only gives them an attractive sheen, but also makes it easier to slide the phone in and out of your pants or jacket pockets.
The Galaxies range features several magical designs: Intergalactic Rainbow, shown at top, which features a starry expanse with an ominous cyan blue gas formation at the center and radiant shades of yellow and golden along the top and bottom, as well as pops of violet and purple; StarLight, shown second from top, which features an apostrophe-like cloud formation in a dusty, sandy hue along the right-hand side of the case with a cluster of supernova stars along the right-hand side emitting beams of reddish violet and golden yellow light; and Creation, which seems to show the summit of a mountain practically kissing a starry sky. These iPhone 5 cases retail for $24.99 each at LuxMobileGroup.com.
