Walk on Sunshine — Even in the Rain — With New Jeffrey for Sperry Top-Sider Zermatt Boots
I’ll admit: I’ve never been particularly fond of rain boots. No matter how colorful the stripes or polka dots on their rubber uppers or how many ribbon-like laces and fuzzy fold-over cuffs designers incorporate to make these hulking, cumbersome, clunky boots a bit more sophisticated, they always look so leaden and ungraceful, bringing any cute outfit down a few notches. That being said, the latest batch of duck boot-inspired styles are likely to sway my opinion — especially when crafted in bright, perky shades. This season, for instance, upscale boutique Jeffrey New York joined forces with the brand best known for its preppy, yacht-ready boat shoes, Sperry Top-Sider, to create a limited-edition weather-proof boot with plenty of personality.
The Jeffrey for Sperry Top-Sider Zamatt Boots ($229.95 at Nordstrom.com) feature waterproof polyurethane uppers, tonal shell-toe stitching, a 6 1/2″-tall shaft, a white outsole for much-needed contrast, and a non-slip rubber sole with a 3/4″ heel in a fluorescent shade matching that of the uppers. To complete the duck boot-inspired motif, the Zamatt boasts white cord laces looped through metal eyelets all along the front of the shaft.
Available in Starburst-worthy shades of neon pink, lime green, and phosphorescent orange, the Jeffrey for Sperry Top-Sider Zamatt Boots fuse together the fun-loving personality of hi-top sneakers with the sturdy construction and safety features of weatherproof boots. And, of course, the neon shades make gloomy days a bit more uplifting.
