Fashion For Less — Spotlight on the MIA Amore Madison Boots
Several weeks ago, I was approached by the Sears publicity team and offered the chance to review the MIA Amore Madison Boots shown above (now on sale for $19.99 at Sears.com). Now, I’ll admit that I’m a bit of a shoe snob — often to my detriment since I can overlook some great fashion deals because of my skepticism regarding their durability and comfort. This narrow-minded attitude wasn’t the consequence of some privileged background (we certainly weren’t popping tags growing up!) but, rather, the result of a few bad experiences with inexpensive shoes that left my feet blistered, bruised, and even bleeding. See, back in high school and college, if I had any lump sum of cash in hand, I was likely to go on a shopping spree and buy as many things as possible rather than focus on a few top-shelf items. And, while making these rash, hoarder-like decisions, I often purchased shoes that were extremely affordable and cute but also poorly crafted, incredibly stiff, and practically murderous on the feet, proving so torturous that they destroyed my feet within one or two wears. Scarred both literally and figuratively by my impulse shopping patterns and my emphasis on bulk rather than build, I then adopted the very opposite different attitude, focusing only on shoes by luxury brands and scoping out sales to get the best possible deals on any desired items. Years later, I’ve come to realize that the most reasonable and even-keeled attitude I could have adopted would’ve entailed traveling down a middle ground between these two extremes, continuing to hunt down sales on top-notch designer shoes while also testing out more affordable options from lower-tiered brands. By dismissing the latter route, then, I’ve not only spent a needlessly excessive amount of money on footwear over the years, but I’ve also unjustly dismissed some deliciously on trend shoes that looked more sophisticated and well-crafted than some of their higher-priced peers. So, of course, given the chance to review these boots, I decided to put aside any misconceptions and pre-judgments, assessing the design, versatility, comfort, and fit of these shoes with an open mind.
And, ladies, I’m glad I tucked away those predispositions because thew MIA Amore Madison Boots really are worth some amore. The ankle-high boots feature a bit of a cowgirl attitude thanks to their cognac-colored uppers and chunky wooden heel, but they also boast a laid-back urban feel thanks to the ruching along the shaft, which creates a slouchy effect. For a bit of dare-devil attitude, the boots also incorporate a wide strap below the base of the shaft with brass-toned eyelets and a D-ring metal buckle. Normally available for $49.99, the MIA Amore Madison Boots are currently available for 60% off regular retail price, making them a great investment — particularly since their design is youthful but timeless, allowing you to wear them from one season to the next, pairing them with long jeans and corduroy pants in the winter, then rocking them with mini skirts, floral rompers and sundresses, and even denim shorts in the spring and summer.
As for the fit, these boots don’t pinch or squeeze your foot, providing a reasonable width, and the stacked heel offers a slight height boost while also keeping feet at a comfortable and non-strenuous angle. All in all, these boots stand as proof that prices don’t have to be misleading and that, in some cases, you need to take a leap of faith on those seemingly too-good-to-be-true deals — after all, veracity may just be on their side!
