The MadeMe Cat Bomber Jacket Is a Feline Lover’s Fashion Fancy Feast!
Yes, I stifle the urge to roll my eyes when I see photos of people’s cats inundating my Facebook timeline and Instagram feed. And, yes, I do associate having more than two cats with spinsterhood. In fact, an abundance of cat-related posts always reminds me of that 30 Rock episode in which, after many romantic disappointments, Liz Lemon resigned herself to eternal spinsterhood, cashed in her 401k to buy a cemetery plot, started wearing a fanny pack to work, and bought a cat and named her Emily Dickinson. But then, I may be predisposed to dislike cats since, after all, any contact with them makes me eyes swell to the size of lemons and thrusts me into an uncontrollable sneezing fit. So, in the spirit of fairness, I’m shelving all my anti-feline sentiments to bring all my readers who are cat lovers a treat: a meow-velous jacket from New York City-based streetwear brand MadeMe.
The MadeMe Cat Bomber ($278 at MadeMeNYC.com), available in black or olive, features the classic military-inspired silhouette that urban fashionistas have coveted since the 1980s. As with the MA-1 flight jacket, this jacket features a lightweight silk nylon exterior, a blaze orange lining, two slanted snap pockets above the waist, a zippered pocket on the left sleeve, ribbed ankle cuffs and a ribbed elastic waistband, and a center zipper closure. But, unlike the jackets worn by pilots in the Korean War and Vietnam War, these feature an oversize image of a Persian cat along the back: a hyper-realistic rendition of a white-and-black cat on the back of the black bomber and one of a beige-and-brown cat with piercing yellow eyes on the olive green jacket.
If you’ve got your own Mr. Whiskers at home, then, these jackets are fashion catnip!
