Break the Wall of Sound with these Sol Republic x Tokidoki Headphones

For centuries, music and visual art have been inextricably linked — some of the most well-renowned operas are as memorable because of their lavish, intricate, grandiose set designs as they are their arias (think of Aida, for instance, which is set in ancient Egypt, or La Boheme, which brings to life the streets of 19th century Paris); graffiti and MC’ing stand side-by-side as two  of the four elements of hip hop; and the cinematic quality  of music videos like Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” Björk’s “All Is Full Of Love,” and Madonna’s “Express Yourself” has made the images seen in these clips as memorable as the beats and lyrics of the accompanying songs. To celebrate the marriage between music and art and make the subsequent result palpable and accessible to the masses, consumer electronics brand Sol Republic joined forces with Italian brand Tokidoki, known for its colorful characters, which make up a wondrous and child-like universe that could best be described as an edgy and urban alternative to Sanrio’s realm.

This creative partnership resulted in the release of two on-ear headphones styles. The Sol Republic x Tokidoki Tracks HD On-Ear Headphones ($149.99 at SolRepublic.com) feature a quirky black, white, and gray headband printed with some of Tokidoki’s  most beloved characters  — from Sandy the Cactus to Adios, Stellina the Unicorn, Mozzarella, and Latte — and peppered with pops of turquoise, purple, magenta, and yellow, with the inside of the headband being a solid hot pink shade. Not only are they stylish, but the headphones feature V10 HD sound Engines with SonicSoft Speaker Pads for a superior sonic experience.

The Sol Republic x TKDK Tracks HD On-Ear Headphones ($129.99 at SolRepublic.com), meanwhile, have more of an urban edge and a grown-up feel, with  a black headband featuring a white printed design with paisley motifs, heart-shaped skull and crossbones, and illustrations of a vixen wit a purple pout.

Both pieces feature interchangeable headbands (and which come with a 1,000-day guarantee), as well as  detachable speaker pads and interchangeable cables with built-in controls.
