Salute the New Camo Print Faye Slippers from Pretty Loafers
While I love sneakers (be they colorful Nike Dunks, graphic Chuck Taylors, spunky Adidas, or fashion-forward wedge styles), motorcycle boots, and gladiator sandals, you’ll probably never find me wearing a true pair of flats — not loafers or ballet flats, oxfords or smoking slippers, saddle shoes or moccasins. Whereas the right pair of heels can make my eyes widen in amazement, even the snazziest flats tend to leave me unenthused. I’ll wax poetic about how a pair of 5″ stilettos will elongate my figure, better define my calves, and just add sex appeal to an ensemble, but I’ll rarely — if ever — carry on about a pair of “sensible” flats. Then again, words like “sensible” are rarely used to describe me or my personal style (other inapplicable adjectives include “patient” and “practical”). My preamble aside, if there were ever a pair of flats that would make me reconsider my stance and hang up my heels, it would be this one by Pretty Loafers, the newly launched sister brand of Pretty Ballerinas.
As a long-time fan of all things camo print, I did a double-take as soon as I laid eyes on the Pretty Loafers Faye shoes ($199 at PrettyLoafers.us), high-fronted flats made to resemble smoking slippers in their overall silhouette but featuring more subtle, shallower indentations along the sides of the vamp as opposed to the rather deep grooves associated with this traditionally masculine shoe style. Available in a fluorescent orange or fluorescent green camo canvas print accentuated with black trim, the Faye shoe manages to capture the Old World elegance associated with smoking slippers and infuse it with an urban toughness via the military references and pops of unabashedly bright neon color.
Forget blending in — with these camo print flats, you’ll be a stand-out in any crowd!
