Chevron Cheer — Introducing The Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Missoni Spring 2016 Collection
Ziggety-zaggety-do — chevron patterns make their way down south, all the way to you toes, as Converse unveils its new Chuck Taylor All Star Missoni Spring 2016 collection. For the sixth consecutive year, Converse has partnered with Italian fashion house Missoni on a limited-edition collection of sneakers that joins together the American footwear brand’s most beloved and iconic silhouette, that of the Chuck Taylor All Star, with the fashion house’s famed penchant for colorful zig-zags.
While chevron motifs are hardly novel in the Converse and Missoni universe, this spring’s collection adds a fun textural twist by incorporating woven metallic threading to those printed angular lines. The resulting pattern, called “The Flame” features tighter chevron lines, with marked peaks and valleys, placed vertically along the canvas uppers. Though they maintain their angular overtones, the lines are less crisp and precise than usual, at times almost most wiggly, making each vertical strip feel a bit like a slithering snake. The lurex metallic threading, meanwhile, gives each shoe a hefty does of shimmer and adds a three-dimensional element to the design,
The line consists of two high-top styles, one featuring deep denim blue canvas uppers adorned with light blue stripes and accent stitching and the other boasting black canvas uppers with multi-colored chevron stripes that meld together azure, turquoise, auburn, chartreuse, and burnt orange tones. The two low-top oxford styles, meanwhile, include a black number with an ombré gray and white chevron pattern and a second black pair with chevron stripes in fiery shades of pumpkin and orange, as well as touches of pink and mauve.
All of the kicks feature a leather tongue and heel that that elevate each shoe, giving it a dressier and more fashion-forward feel.
The Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Missoni collection is now available st at Converse.com, with style starting at $95.
